My amazing intermediate art students at the Lancaster Learning Link participated in a charity called The Memory Project, which teams up with artists to create portraits for children who've faced war, abuse, and/or tragedy and loss. The hope is that the art will help those children create new memories and realize that there is still hope and love beyond their circumstances. These Link students worked so very hard on their projects, doing the portraits over again multiple times and giving their very best efforts, and I was very impressed with not only their talent, but also their strength of character in completing such a difficult project. They were so committed to this project, which because of its nature and importance, had an added level of difficulty and stress that accompanied it. They absolutely rose to the occasion! This is a video from the Memory Project from when all of the portraits (from many schools and organizations besides our own) were delivered.
